High Plains Drifter

One of my goals after getting better is to send this climb. It has some of the most amazing moves on it and tops out at around 35 feet. My hands are starting to sweat just thinking about it.

The photo is by amabelley from flickr hope they don't mind if I use it.

IVIG Round 2

I guess I will do a blog post to pass the time since the VPN over the EVDO card to work keeps cutting out for some reason. I'm starting round 2 of my IVIG today. Yesterday was not too bad it took about 4 hours to do the infusion. It made me sick and has given me a slight fever. I was so worn out I slept from 4:00pm until 6:30am this morning. It has also made the symptoms of my CIDP worse but that is to be expected. I was told by my nurse that I will feel worse before I start to feel better. I also was told that the IVIG for each day of treatment costs $7,000! That means I will be taking in around $35,000 dollars worth of other people's antibodies in the next few days. You gotta love health insurance.

Taking a Little Time Off Bouldering (a.k.a. CIDP sucks)

Well I have had to take a little time off from climbing because I am lucky enough to have come down with a case of Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy. The short of it is my immune system has decided to attack my nervous system. I have lost a lot of muscle and have very little energy so climbing and sometimes even walking is out of the question. Being a chronic disease there is a chance I may never be able to climb at my previous levels ever again. So it looks like I may have to take up trad climbing ;) The good news is that I start treatment on Monday. I'm getting IVIG infusions and will have to spend some serious time hooked up to an IV for the next week. Luckily I will be able to work from the infusion center and that will keep my mind off the fact I am receiving hundreds if not thousands of other peoples antibodies. I will leave you with a few pictures I took while I was in Fiji a few years ago. Wish me luck!

If you can't tell already, I love sunset shots.
